Interview:
How did you get your start in music?
Hello! My journey into music began when I was in high school. A close friend and I used to spend hours listening to music, discussing new releases, analyzing lyrics, and discovering new bands.
After a few months, I noticed an acoustic guitar leaning behind the always-open door of his room. It had been a gift from his parents. I asked if I could borrow it, took it home, and started teaching myself a few basic chords and strumming patterns. I immediately fell in love with playing.
Back then, the internet was still accessed through a telephone line, but I managed to find guitar tabs for many of my favorite songs and learned by practicing them over and over again.
My very first “recordings” were made on a stereo cassette recorder. To create a second guitar track, I used another cassette recorder and layered the recordings together. Looking back, it was a very simple setup, but hearing my own music played back for the first time was an incredible feeling. That was the moment I realised I wanted to keep creating music.
What type of music did you listen to while growing up?
When I first got into metal, I spent a lot of time listening to bands like Metallica and Sepultura. Eventually, though, I found myself searching for something faster, darker, and more aggressive.
Around that time, Immortal released Blizzard Beasts, an album that still stands as one of my all-time favorites. At the same time, one of Romania’s most influential black metal bands, Negură Bunget, released their legendary debut album, Zîrnindu-Sã. I still remember reading an interview with them in the Heavy Metal Magazine newspaper. The album’s haunting atmosphere, combined with its raw black metal guitar sound, had a profound impact on me.
That was the moment I truly discovered black metal. From then on, I immersed myself in the genre, exploring as many classic and underground bands as I could, and those records became the foundation of my musical influences.
What are fun stories you can share while you’re in the studio recording music?
To be honest, we’re probably not the funniest band to have in the studio because we’re very focused when it’s time to record. We usually spend a lot of time making sure every detail sounds the way we envisioned it, so most of the sessions are quite intense.
That said, there are always small moments that make us laugh. Sometimes we’ll spend an hour trying to record what should be the simplest riff, only to realize that one tiny mistake kept slipping through every take. Looking back, those moments become funny because they remind us that nobody is perfect, no matter how much experience they have.
Recording an album is a long process, and despite the hard work, we always enjoy it. Seeing the songs evolve from rough demos into finished tracks is one of the most rewarding parts of being in a band.

I would definitely recommend checking out Idle Cage by Paenil Era. It’s a remarkable release that deserves far more attention and is well worth a listen.
