Today, we have sat down with Kyle Kendall to talk about his inspiration to write music, type of music he listened to growing up, and much more!
Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music?
Most songs I write tend to focus on isolation, depression and over all tragic themes. It took me a long time to realize that tragically thematic music helped me not feel alone in childhood and I’d just like to pass that on to others.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
I had a bit of an obsession with Scandinavian and Nordic metal growing up so bands like Nightwish, Opeth, In Flames, Sonata Arctica, Archenemy, and Children of Bodom were my go-tos.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
You know, with the friends I’ve made and the people I’ve met that are far more successful than I could hope to be I like to think I don’t get starstruck but, I think I’d at least freeze up a bit in the same room as Tuomas Holopainen.
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
This is something that’s been coming up more and more for me. I think if I wasn’t doing music, I’d be doing something with video game design or Muay Thai
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
You’re going to suck at it, until you don’t. Give yourself permission to be a beginner with every single thing you’re new at, this includes other parts of creating music that you don’t have experience with.
Just write it, practice, work on improving. Then just write more, if it’s something you have inside of you do yourself a favour and let it out. It’s one of the absolute best things you could ever do for yourself.
