Today, we sat down with Karly Jewell to talk music inspiration, music listened to growing up and much more! Be sure to check out the music of Karly Jewell below after the interview!
Here is the interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?
My late Grandfather was my teacher passing me the gift of music. Teaching me how it heals that it’s always there and not only that bringing people together. I often use music as a way out to heal and get through any situation. I think everything inspires me to write I mean connecting with people with music is the most amazing feeling. I think music is the most powerful gift this world has and there just isn’t anything else like it’s the one thing that everyone has in common it just brings people together what a beautiful thing to be part of.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
I grew up with country music as my Grandfather was a songwriter and artist also. Country Music are the roots to my birthing of the musician I am today. My story telling comes from that first. I was also that kid that got into Guns and Roses AC/DC, Joan Jett and many more at a young age. I was definitely drawn to rock and how cool it was. I was the kid that didn’t always fit in and would rather spend time ripping my jeans like the rockers did on rage, putting my headphones in and either trying to ride a skateboard or make massive jumps on my BMX whilst blasting Rock and Roll I think I found my home at a very early age that feeling that it was ok to be different not fit in and that feeling of living on the Wild side came from a young age. Plus I was a big dreamer still am thanks to music and my pop.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero? There is only one real hero my late Grandfather Tony Jewell.
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
I have no idea it’s in the blood but I am that crazy cat lady with my furkid Fluffington Von Winkle so I think I’d be working with rescue animals something I think about a lot or saving forests. Which is also something I working on anyway now.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?
Just do it. If you have that fire in your soul then it’s time to create you story. It’s your journey and remember you can do anything you want all you have to do is make a start and believe in yourself.
