Today, we sat down with guitarist Kaleb Richey to talk about his band Harpoon, The Whale. Kaleb lets us know about his hero, music writing inspiration, and more. Be sure to check out Harpoon, The Whale music below on Spotify after the interview!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

Most of my songs are about anxiety, so I guess my own personal struggles and surroundings do inspire me to write.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

My earliest memories are of my mom driving me around listening to Fleetwood Mac. I definitely started there and then in middle school I listened to a ton of The Offspring and Blink 182.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

As a musical hero, I really looked up to my grandmother. I don’t think I’d be as far as I am today without her.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Probably just working and playing video games. I always wanted to be a professional basketball player, I could have probably done that.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Just start creating and put out music! Somebody is going to appreciate it.
