Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your

surroundings?

The vast majority of our music surrounds the consequences of us mistreating the planet and/or each other, using a plethora of different metaphors from sea monsters to demons to even a more literal approach in songs like Mutiny or Save Your Breath.  I would say it’s more society as a whole than our direct surroundings.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

All of us have a great deal of musical influences and bands we were obsessed with growing up but collectively we all grew up with System of a Down, A Perfect Circle, Incubus, Meshuggah, The Used, Underoath.  I’m definitely missing some I’m sure but those cover a lot of our influences.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Dave Grohl.  Absolute champion of the music industry.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Well we all lead busy lives around music so likely pouring more time into our current endeavors surrounding music.  EJ is a full time firefighter and part time mechanic.  Dustin is a Twitch streamer and works full time in the hotel industry.  Alicia is a full time music teacher out of School of Rock in Attleboro.  Alex plays solo acoustic gigs full time so he would likely have continued working in Psychology after college had he not switched routes to music.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create

music?

Unless you are 1000% all in on doing whatever it takes to make music your career for life, do not waste your time trying to make it anything more than a hobby.  Nothing short of the purest of intentions and undeniable passion will ever render anything past the bottom floor of this industry, unless you’re related to a famous musician or industry professional, or have a very rich family.  Of course talent being a pre requisite for even those to work.  At the same time, if you have a deep feeling that this is your calling and nothing that happens or anything anyone says can change that, simply follow the path before you and never give up on yourself and you will absolutely find success.  Also please don’t waste time comparing yourself to other people.  Take notes from others success but don’t ever get down on yourself on things like age or not being able to pull off something within the timeframe someone else did.  Do your very best in your lane and you’ll be fine.
