With the start of the new year, music is making rounds to fans all alike! Esteban is a band that brings a musical epiphany for their fans. The music they showcase is one of joyous and filled with rock roots. We were able to sit down with the band Esteban and talk writing music, heroes and of course music advice for the fans out there.

Here is the interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?

Being alive is great and very good for you too! Life should be a voyage of discovery filled with joy and happiness. As we get older, we realise how lucky we are to still breathe and communicate and develop ourselves.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

As individuals we are an eclectic bunch so as kids we listened to everything from The Moody Blues to Skunk Anansie. However there is probably one artist, whom for all of us, we saw as someone who stood head and shoulders above anyone else who had ever lived… Michael Jackson. It is easy on reflection to see who influenced Michael as a child too, Stevie Wonder, Little Richard, Smokey Robinson and so on but, for us, he held all the keys to these doors we now know and love to peer through.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Hendrix….. As a kid  I hadn’t heard anything like it, he was a young black kid making a sound that wasn’t black or white, it was like it was from space just effortlessly cool yet brilliant.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Music has been in all of us since we were kids so its hard to imagine a life without music being some part of it. As kids we all pledged to keep on making music together as long as we possibly could and that pledge still remains. Life can be difficult at times, so for us it’s about doing what is needed to get through the daily grind and cherishing the opportunity to make music together

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

Don’t worry about being the best when you start, concern yourself with being better. Einstein said learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow. It’s a mantra to live by.
