Interview with Emily Daccarett

Interview with Emily Daccarett

We take the journey through the dark halls of the theater to interview one of music’s most unique characters. This musician has built her brand through her music and clothing brand throughout the world. We were able to get some questions to Emily Daccarett and find out more about her as an artist and her persona.

Here is the interview:

1. What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

I draw a lot of my inspiration from film, literature, and history, mixed in with personal experiences. I’m a curious person, and once I become intrigued with just about anything, I become obsessed with researching and getting as much information on it as I can. I love telling and creating stories with my music.

2. What type of music did you listen to growing up?
I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Queen, Kenny Rogers….also some great Latin music by Los Panchos with Eydie Gorme, Camilo Sesto, Emmanuel. My parents and grandparents greatly influenced the music I listened to haha.

3. Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

I have many people I look up to, but two artists that inspire me to continue doing what I do are Kate Bush and David Bowie. They have always been so true to their art and never shied away from being “strange”.

4. If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I would be focusing on only designing! I’m a fashion designer and began my career in fashion. My first runway show was what brought me to writing my own music in the first place.

5. What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
Never feel like you have to copy someone else, stay true to who you are and your tribe will find you!
