Today, we sat down with Crosson to talk their start in music, funny stories from studio sessions and much more! Be sure to check out their music below after the interview!
Interview:
How did you get your start in music?
At the tender age of 6 , my father stated me on the piano accordion ( knowing now that Tommy Lee and Tony Iommi started their musical careers on the accordion, I don’t feel as nedy ? ) . After discovering KISS and then seeing Iron Maiden for the first time with all the explosions, fire and a 15ft Eddie roaming around the stage, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. My poor Dad was devasted when I traded the accordion in for an electric guitar!
I remember Paul Stanley saying that they wanted to put together the band they wanted to see. I took these words of wisdom and constructed what you see today with CROSSON with over the top costumes, energetic stage shows, beautiful choreographed girls and catchy sing along heavy rock.
What type of music did you listen to while growing up?
As young kid was first love was ABBA and to this day, they are highly influential in trying to write catchy songs with counter melodies. After discovering KISS and then getting into the whole 80s glam heavy rock, the seeds of my musical journey had been sown I basically fell in love with the whole genre with bands like KISS, Motley Crue, Def Leppard , Iron Maiden, Dio, Ozzy, Dokken, Stryper, Poison , Bon Jovi, Ratt, Scorpions, Judas Priest …… the list is endless !!
What are fun stories you can share while you’re in the studio recording music?
The fun is generated from having great people around you, having a laugh and doing what you love. We’ve been fortunate to have some amazing engineers who are not only great at what they do but also have a great sense of humour. Also being the producer and writer, I need to carefully listen to every note, fill and riff being played which is mentally exhausting.
After hearing our guitarist do an amazing solo or the drummer do an awesome fill, you’ll often see me dancing around the studio
What is your latest song or album you can share with us?
The last CROSSON studio album was ‘Rock ‘N Roll Love Affair’ in 2020. We then released a live concert video / album ‘CROSSON – Live At The Orpheum’ in 2021. We have just completed recording our new album titled ‘Ready, Aim…. Rock ‘which is due to be released in the latter half of 2022.
