Interview with Brett Schieber

Today, we sat down with Brett Schieber to talk music inspiration, advice for musicians and much more! Be sure to check out Brett’s music below after the interview on Spotify!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

That’s difficult to answer, really.  Sometimes I write about personal things, sometimes I write about fictional characters, sometimes it’s just stream of consciousness.  I just truly love music and have to play and write in order to be happy, so it’s just what I do!

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

I listened to a lot of what my parents listened to – Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, Kool & the Gang, Fleetwood Mac, Hall & Oates, Prince, New Edition, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, The Isley Brothers, etc.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

All of the bands listed above – and I still do!

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

Teaching.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Play, write, record, and put it out there.  Never give up, despite the heartbreak felt when your music is met with cold indifference, mockery, and for no profit at all.  If music is in you, you have to do it no matter what – so be persistent and don’t stop!
