Interview with Blitz Union

The surprise in music today is being at the right place and the right time in the industry. For the right time, the music is blaring with vivacious crowd as the place starts to explode. For the right place, an interview should always be conducted in a mosh pit. Today, we are in the mosh pit with Blitz Union and we are pushing everyone around us while we are conducting this interview. Don’t worry everyone, my glasses stayed on, but my beer fell though.

Here is the interview:

WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION TO WRITE MUSIC? IS IT YOUR SURROUNDINGS?

Well, yeah, our surroundings, our hometown Prague, city of great history & culture has always been an inspiration for us whether we want it or not. But the main source of our inspiration

comes to us in sort of “waves”. The principle of these waves, these impulses are part of our whole Blitz Union story, which we would like to keep for ourselves for now…

But what we learned is that the more we try to force it, the smaller chance is that these impulses come.

WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC DID YOU LISTEN TO GROWING UP?

We were all raised on the rock/metal bands which have been popular around year 2000, so for example Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein, Static-x etc.

The influence of these bands is undeniably audible in our music.

IS THERE SOMEONE YOU LOOKED UP AS A HERO?

Popeye the sailor man! That was a hero number one for me and my brother at least.[Laughter]

IF YOU WEREN’t A MUSICIAN, WOULD YOU BE DOING TODAY?

I would be doing something else definitely [Laughter]. But…I’ve never been able to make enough money with music. So I always have to have a side job.

My last job was in IT for example, so who knows where I will end up in the end.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OUR FANS OUT THERE THAT WANT TO CREATE MUSIC?

I am not finding myself in a position to give any specific advice to anyone. If you love doing music, just keep on working on yourself, stay true to what you are doing and you’ll see where it takes you.
