Today, I was able to sit down with Blindness and Light to discuss their inspiration to write music, tunes they listened to growing up, and much more! Be sure to check out the music and social media of Blindness and Light below after the interview!
Interview:
What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?
Inspiration comes from many places really, it can be people we speak to, experiences in life, world news and of course the beauty of a place like Anglesey.
What type of music did you listen to growing up?
Probably influences from my parents such as Bob Dylan, The Mamas & The Papas, The Beatles and Roxy Music. Later on it was punk and post punk.
Is there someone you looked up as a hero?
Heroes only really exist when you don’t actually know them. In music there’s a lot of myth and legend about people in the industry which is all about PR and marketing but in reality they’re humans like us. I met a hero of mine once, he’s a decent every day person. Myth and legend evaporated immediately!
If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?
I would be some kind of environmental scientist. That’s always interested me. It’s important to understand and respect the planet we live on.
What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?
Be totally true to yourself. Maintain independence and self determination at all cost.
