Interview with Anders L. Rasmussen

Today, we sat down with Anders L. Rasmussen to discuss their inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more. Be sure to check out Anders’s track on Spotify below after the interview!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

My inspiration comes and goes. I only write when my mood is great. To pluck away when I am sad, no, that’s not what I am about. I need to feel great, then a book, something on the TV, listening to music can be great triggers to write music. So, yes, my surroundings can have a great impact on my writing.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

It started with Kiss at the tender age of four years old. My uncle gave me and my brother cassettes to listen to. Later, from early teens throughout my school years it was first AC/DC, then later on more metal like Iron Maiden, Dio and Dream Theater. When I moved away from home going to university, my taste got more diverse. Singer-songwriter stuff, Americana etc.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

I have been a big fan of Ronnie James Dio since my high school days. That voice!

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I have my teacher education. I have worked as a teacher for many years (I am now an assistant principal at the school where I work) alongside my music career. To be completely honest, this is where I make my living. The salary from the music industry is nothing in comparison.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Practice every day. Be as good as you can on your instrument, then you might have a chance sticking out. But, if you discover a cool and strange path on your instrument, go for it. Don’t be afraid to to stand out. And last but most importantly – be nice to each other!
