Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

It’s a bit of everything to be honest. Sometimes you read a book or watch a movie which won’t let go of you for weeks, and you end up writing a song about it. Other times the inspiration might be something that happened directly to you or friends and family. If you wear your antenna properly, inspiration is everywhere.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

I’ve been a fervent Bowie fan since I was ten. I know all his seventies records by heart. Through Bowie I got into Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and later on bands like Echo & The Bunnymen and Psychedelic Furs who were very much inspired by him. It’s fair to say I grew up in Bowie Universe.

Is there someone you looked up to as a hero?

Again, it has to be Bowie. Other than him, I always appreciated Ian Astbury form The Cult a lot. He received a lot of stick for sticking to his guns, I thought that was quite admirable. Besides, The Cult write great no-frills Rock and Roll songs.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I trained to become a grief counsellor, so I guess I would be just that. Being a musician is more fun though!

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Either get the knack of writing hits or be absolutely true to yourself when it comes to creating music, and don’t care about what they call “commercial viability”.
