The band strives to challenge the anguish that we as a species impose on the world around us so willingly, without ever considering the consequences. InRetrospect is a collective aiming to change the insatiable existential crisis known as the modern world. Illustrating soundscapes that display themes of mental deterioration, emotional hardship and pain in its truest and most extreme form, the band deliver their message for change. Utilising their anger, passion and energy not only in the studio, but also in their live shows, they captivate audiences with a thought-provoking and ground-shaking aplomb.
InRetrospect have shared stages with Lastelle, Graphic Nature, Blood Youth, Monasteries, Gassed Up and more, and also played at Burn It Down Festival in 2021. PRESS QUOTE – “Current State is a turbulent tale of suffering, perseverance, and rebirth. Feeling trapped in difficult social situations and toxic relationships is an experience that is far too commonplace in the modern world; and as a band we were eager to explore this through a futuristic lens, both musically and visually. Our latest single depicts the exact moment that our subject discovers a sudden logical awakening, which leads to an emotional ascension. Rising above their past torment they embrace a new tomorrow, a future with no boundaries, breaking away from the hopeless current state that so many of us fall into unwillingly. The music video for Current State, captured by Shaun Hodson of Loki Films, deliberately matches the melancholy of the song. With a despondent blue hue and a hazy aesthetic, our aim was to create a dream-like experience, reflecting how easy it is to become entranced and overwhelmed when emotionally confined. The contrasting yellow lighting was utilised to represent a metaphorical ‘light at the end of the tunnel’, a beacon of hope in an otherwise desperate world, with our enlightened individual as the centrepiece. Current State is the second release, and title track, from our upcoming EP. The past year of isolation has afforded us the chance to fully refine our creative process, and as a result we are incredibly proud of the material that this challenging time has allowed us to produce.
