Horror classic ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ celebrates its 50th Anniversary at Hooper’s Restaurant, by Taco Flats owner Simon Madera

Hooper’s Restaurant, a Kingsland, TX-based eatery owned by Austin’s own Simon Madera (known for his Taco Flats restaurant in ATX), is thrilled to host a 50th-anniversary celebration of the 1974 horror classic, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Hooper’s is located in the iconic house from the film, and will be hosting a weekend packed with unique experiences. Kicking off Friday, Oct. 25, there will be live music and a TCM-themed Spooky Walk sponsored by the Kingsland Chamber of Commerce. The main celebration continues on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a full day of horror-themed excitement. Guests can enjoy exclusive merchandise, participate in raffles, and savor themed food and drinks. A spooky vendor market will also feature horror-themed arts and crafts.

And, on Saturday, Oct. 26 only, meet the film’s original cast members – Ed Guinn (Cattle Truck Driver), Teri McMinn (Pam), John Dugan (Grandpa), Bill Vail (Kirk), Ed Neal (Hitchhiker), and Allen Danziger (Jerry) – who will be signing autographs and taking photos. Roger Bartlett, the original songwriter whose song “Fool for a Blonde” was featured in the film, will also sign autographs, perform live, and MC the event.

Other event highlights on Saturday include a kids’ costume contest, a “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”-themed costume contest, and a special outdoor screening of the film. Exclusive event merchandise will be available in limited quantities only at the event.
