HERE ARE THE YOUNG MEN Review

Here Are The Young Men is a movie that will shake you to the core! I came into thinking this movie was about a comedy of high school shenanigan’s but I was way wrong! Here Are The Young Men is a movie based in Europe that highlights a journey for 3 friends after graduating high school. This journey proved to be a pivotal point for them when entering adult hood as they try to figure out what they are going to do in their life. On Top of that, they witnessed a tragedy that they are having trouble coping with.

I was able to sit down and watch this movie from my laptop. After a few minutes, I was hooked and couldn’t get my eyes off the screen. I enjoyed watching the way the characters were displayed in the movie. The unique way on how their “conscience” is displayed like an American Talk Show gone mad is so fascinating. Very unique is a number of words I can use for this movie, but I have to say get this movie when it comes out on April 27th! I have provided a short review below, but I tried not to spoil much at all. You will dig this movie!

Here is the Review:

Pro:

  • Story
    • The movie starts out as Matthew is seen leaving his former principal’s office and then smashes the principal’s car with his friends Carney and Rez. They are excited to start the summer as they are done with high school and ready to party hard with booze and drugs. They see a tragedy happen at the beach which leads to a downward spiral for each of the friends. They go through a drug and boozed induced mirage that leads them to even more tragedy. This movie is just intense but shows you how one small situation happening can change the world around you.
  • Tragedy
    • Matthew, Carney, and Rez experience something that many don’t see first hand! They saw a death that will haunt them throughout the movie. The death will escalate their inner demons and push each of them to the brink of disaster in the movie. Each one has decisions they must do to help themselves, but do they really want to? Carney, was affected most by that decision as it influenced him to try and experience seeing death by others in the movie.
  • Game Show Host
    • Travis Fimmel is that voice that in your ear who tells you to just do it even though you fear the consequences. I’m amazed on how well he played the part of the host of the TV show that basically emulated their decisions. The decisions made by the Matthew and Carney were highlighted throughout the dream state of the show. I digged this part hard!
