Hyphen has made quite a name for himself over the past year for his energetic, jazz infused performances. Uniquely in the world of rap, Hyphen performs with a 6-piece live Jazz band. Playing shows all over the globe, headlining and selling out world-renowned venues and shows such as Ronnie Scott’s and Sofar Sounds, Hyphen has recently confirmed his performance at Reading and Leeds festival where he will be playing the BBC Music Introducing Stage.

Hyphen’s powerful lyrics and melodic flow have carried him from strength to strength over the past year. His ability to address social issue’s such as anxiety and depression through uplifting tracks has caught the eye of London Evening Standard, GRM Daily, Gentleman’s Journal and BBC Asian Network.

When asked about the track, Hyphen stated: “The song is about feeling lonely at these cool swanky events, where everyone is pretending to be having the best time – but there’s an inherent pretence to all of it. All of us have this small vulnerable child inside that just wants some reassurance. After a few drinks, for better or worse, you get swept up in the moment! I like to think of it as an ’emotionally-vulnerable banger’ or ‘Tragic Turn-up’ music.”

His passion for heartfelt music and having a positive impact ismadeclear by the fund raising he’sbeen involved in.His track‘Sounds that we Made’ helpedraisemoney forNew Horizonsa charity that works to alleviate homelessness in London. He’s also performed forSanctus, a mental healthorganization, to raise awareness for depression in young men.

You can catch Hyphen at Reading Festival August 23rd and Leeds Festival on August 24th.
