Giant Walker are a Heavy Progressive Rock band from Newcastle, UK. After individually relocating 300 miles to further develop their craft, the Geordie quartet was coincidentally born in the South, bound together by their northern heritage and a shared love for bands such as Karnivool, Soundgarden, Radiohead and Deftones. Written during the 2020 lockdown, their upcoming album features themes of self isolation and a dystopian reality.  Their music captures the many lows of loneliness and tips a hat to the music that gets you through hard times; sweeping you up in a conceptual journey, from giant riffs to melancholic melodies, and ambient soundscapes. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris Coulter (Arcane Roots, Jamie Lenman) at the Ranch and Stakeout Studios, Giant Walker have stitched together a sound, woven from the fabric of their influences, that can’t be found elsewhere.
Giant Walker release their fifth and final single, ‘Katoomba’ on 8th April, ahead of their debut album ‘All In Good Time’ which will be released 13th May 2022. Previous singles ‘The Fact in Fiction’, ‘Past The Peak’ ‘Left To Wreck’ and ‘Optophobia’ picked up coverage with the likes of Rolling Stone, Metal Hammer, Planet Rock, BBC, Louder Sound/Prog Magazine, Classic Rock Magazine, Music Gateway, Metal Sucks, Total Rock Radio, GigRadar, The Faction, Heavy Magazine, Distortion Radio, Rock Meeting, Moshville Times, Deezer, ERB Magazine, TIDAL, Distorted Sound Magazine, Banks Radio, Ollie Winiberg’s Heavy Hooks, Narc Magazine, and many other respected publications and platforms. Album pre-orders are available at the link below.
The final single ‘Katoomba’ opens with a menacing guitar riff that undulates with an intricate, yet powerful drum groove. The energetic track is complemented by a hooky and captivating chorus that leaves you reaching to crank up the volume.
Guitarist Jamie explains, “‘Katoomba’ was actually the first song that we wrote for the album and, whilst we try and bring a different vibe to all of our songs, we feel that ‘Katoomba’ really summarises the sound of ‘Giant Walker’. Lyrically, it captures the essence of how we felt at the time – trying to stay sane in the first lockdown. Funnily enough, the song was actually named after a trip to the Blue Mountains, Katoomba in Australia, as that’s where I purchased the fuzz pedal which inspired the initial riff.”
