Good journey! Fresh from exhibiting at San Diego Comic Con, pop culture podcast network and media company GEEKSCAPE is proud to enter the comic book ring with their upcoming crowdfunding campaign for PAUL LONDON: HERO OF THE PROPHECY #1, the first issue in a brand new fantasy comic book series!
Inspired by real-life professional wrestler, Paul London (WWE, Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground), Paul London: Hero of the Prophecy #1 is a 26-page pro-wrestling/sword & sorcery story written by Jonathan London (Miami Vice, Super Action Man) and based on an idea by Jonathan and his brother Paul.
As Jonathan describes, “Hero of the Prophecy started as me wanting to write a big love letter to my brother Paul. I started it to make him laugh, using the language of everything we love: pro wrestling, 80s fantasy movies, and comic books. And this ridiculous story about my brother just kept getting bigger and bigger. The love kept feeding it (even if Paul gets beat up, thrown around, and clowned on almost every page).”
The story revolves around washed-up, real-life pro wrestler Paul London who, at the lowest point in his life, is magically transported across the universe to a distant planet of sword and sorcery. Once there, he is mistaken to be the Hero of The Prophecy, destined to free a kingdom from the rule of Ramzaar, an evil sorcerer. Ultimately, Paul must learn to use his pro-wrestling skills and false bravado to not only survive the strange, magical world and its ferocious inhabitants but also Ramzaar’s dark forces. Along the way, he befriends an owl-like wizard and a beautiful, sword-wielding warrior, all in the hopes of becoming a true hero.
“I’m excited to bring both wrestling and comic book fans together on this epic adventure! I’ve never fought an evil Wizard or freed an entire kingdom before… but I’ve watched Krull, Masters of the Universe, and Beast Master about a thousand times so I think I can handle it!” says Paul.
