Call for Volunteers, Exhibitors, Sponsors

July 16, 2019 (Houston, TX) – The 2019 Game Theory Expo (GTEX) welcomes 30-year veteran, avid gamer Liz Courts, as it returns for another weekend of exciting tabletop gaming on September 7-8, 2019 at the Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake Hotel, 3000 E NASA Pkwy, Houston, TX 77058 across from Johnson Space Center. The convention focuses on the independent and small publisher side of the industry, while also making table-space for gaming available to the general public. Please visit https://tabletop.events/conventions/game-theory-expo-2019 for badge purchases and complete event details.

Featured guest Liz Courts has worked on over 90 different roleplaying game products, helped organize the first unofficial PaizoCon, started and headed the Wayfinder fanzine for its first four issues, went on to work for Paizo (publisher of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game), and is now a mostly organic, free range freelancer, designing books and illustrating for numerous publishers. Additional guests include Houstonians Brett Barkley and Angel Viator Smith and Texans Mark Carroll, Calvin Johns, Amanda Kahl and Michael O. Varhola.

This year’s official charity is Gnosis Project which provides economic benefits to partner museums— primarily those that are small, underfunded, and in non-English-speaking countries, and fosters cross-cultural cooperation, understanding, and friendship.

Scheduled highlights include:

  • A Friday night (September 6) preview begins at 8:00 pm kicking off 24-hour gaming for weekend badge holders (any badge that is not limited to a single day of attendance).
  • GTEX is once again proud to include the Ettin Games and Hobbies board game library, open to all attendees for the duration of the show, so come find a new game or play an old favorite!
  • Hosted events run by local game masters and company sponsored demo groups
  • Panels discussions on various topics related to entering the tabletop gaming industry.
  • GTEX Passport Program – Get a passport card from the registration desk at badge pick up. Collect stickers by visting each booth to learn, interact with vendors, exhibitors and partner Skirmisher Publishing for a chance to win prizes.

Game Theory Events began in 2017 in Houston, Texas with a mission to promote tabletop gaming in all its diversity through hosting of local game conventions and adding or repairing gaming programs for existing conventions. Our methodology focuses on smaller, independent game designers and publishers and on playing matchmaker between those in the business and those who wish to enter it.
