Developer Digital Continue has announced that its hit game-making game SuperMash is coming to Steam on January 13, 2021. This title explores the storyline of a video game store clerk who comes across a magical console that can randomly generate two video game genres, known as “Mashes”, to create an endless number of unexpected genre hybrids.

In addition to blending genres, each new game creation comes with mechanics known as “glitches” that create unpredictable scenarios for players to hurdle. Players also control certain elements of what they play by applying Dev Cards, which represent various characters, enemies, environments, and more.

Along with the Steam launch, Supermash’s beloved soundtrack of 111 tracks will be available for purchase. Players that wish to own the game as well as the soundtrack can purchase SuperMash Deluxe Edition.

In SuperMash players can:

  • Mash together six unique 2D game genres, including Metrovania, Shoot ‘em Up, Stealth, Platformer, JRPG, and Action Adventure. Each can be combined with itself or one of the other genres.
  • Further customize generated Mashes with collectable in-game Dev Cards, which allow them to pick and choose specific characters, enemies, worlds, and more every time they play.
  • Run a video game shop stocked with retro hybrids of player-created games.
  • Share their favorite combinations with the world through unique codes generated for each Mash.

SuperMash is available for purchase on Steam beginning January 13, 2021. The base game will retail at $19.99 with a launch discount of 10% and SuperMash Deluxe Edition will have a launch discount of 25%.

SuperMash is already available on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, or Nintendo eShop for $19.99.
