May 5th was REVENGE OF THE FIFTH (sorry, big Star Wars nerd) along with Free Comic Book Day! Our amazing team, from DropTheSpotlight, was able to get out to Alamo City Comics to explore, show case, and seize this event that they were participating in. If you weren’t there, boy you missed out. A wide selection of comics were available to take FOR FREE along with talented artists displaying and selling their art and cosplayers taking pictures with anyone and everyone.
The place was popping with people celebrating a day for us nerds and for all of us to come together to celebrate common interests we love.
I was able to pull aside the owner of Alamo City Comics, Eddie Juarez, and get a quick interview with him for some back story of his company.
What made you want to open a comic book store?
I started doing shows back in ’03 and enjoyed doing them ever since, and I had the right opportunity about three years ago and I jumped on it.
What would you say your favorite fandom is? Be it superheroes, horror, what are you passionate about?
It would definitely have to be superheroes and it would definitely have to be Marvel. Sorry for the DC fans out there but Marvel is the number one in my book.
And who is your favorite Marvel character?
The favorite one would have to be Captain America.
Okay, okay, and have you seen the new infinity war movie?
Absolutely, it was phenomenal!
All in all, the event was a hit and the day was amazing and I’m sure whoever you are were able to get some free comics out of that day to enjoy. If you haven’t check out Alamo City Comics I really suggest going and checking it out. They have an awesome variety of fandom and selection to choose from along with Pops, statues, action figures, old and new comics, and more.
