New York’s talented ensemble Flor de Toloache pays a tribute never before seen in rock music. The Latin GRAMMY® Award winners drew inspiration from great songs that in their time marked history and that in one way or another, left their mark on the group’s sounds.
As the first preview of what will be a compilation of unforgettable anthems, they release the iconic song, “Florecita Rockera”, written by Hector Buitrago. The relevance of the 1995 original song created by Aterciopelados, certainly left a strong footprint in Latin America. The power of its lyrics turned it into an anthem and plea for female power and representation. In 2021, with new and renewed musical elements, Flor de Toloache transforms it and gives amplitude to more possibilities of musical and cultural expression.
“Rock-Era”, their new album was produced by Shae Fiol and Mireya Ramos, and recorded remotely by the band while they were separated in New Zealand, New Jersey, Connecticut and Washington. The idea had been inspired by their performance for “Música del Parque a la Casa”, an initiative of IDARTES Colombia, under the curation of Rock al Parque. To recall so many unforgettable songs, which at some point were part of their lives’ soundtrack, led them to re-invent and discover through Mariachi lenses some classic and iconic rock songs both in English and Spanish, adapted in 2021 by musical arrangements with the unique Flor de Toloache style!
“We couldn’t resist the fun of doing a Toloache-style version
of this great Aterciopelados classic!
