San Antonio brewers help Flix Brewhouse earn more medals than any company in the United States

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — July 15, 2026 — Flix Brewhouse San 2026, Texas’ cinema brewery, proved its brewing excellence on a national stage, earning two medals at the 2026 U.S. Open Beer Championship and playing a key role in the company’s historic achievement of 17 medals overall—the highest medal count of any company in the country.

The U.S. Open Beer Championship is the third-largest beer competition in the United States, with entries from breweries across the country and internationally (Alaska to Barcelona), judged across 180+ categories and subcategories. While this year’s Grand National Champion earned nine medals, Flix Brewhouse collectively brought home 17, setting a new benchmark for brewery groups.

Flix Brewhouse locations are judged as independent breweries, making the San Antonio team’s success even more noteworthy. Local brewers captured two medals underscoring the quality, consistency, and creativity coming out of their on-site brewery.

San Antonio’s 2026 medal-winning beers included:

  • Gold – Haze 4 Dayz (Juicy/Hazy Strong Pale Ale)

  • Bronze – Peach’s Blonde (Fruit Beer – Peach)

“Last year, we were honored to be awarded 16 medals at the US Open. This year, 17 tells a different story: it says excellence isn’t a moment, it’s a habit,” said David Meillier, VP of Operations and Food and Beverage, Flix Brewhouse.

“This competition draws a field of incredible breweries. The talent out there is remarkable, and it’s what makes a result like this mean so much more. It would have been easy to bask in last year’s results. Our team didn’t do that; they challenged themselves to get better, and the fact that it wasn’t one standout team but eight different locations medaling tells you this isn’t a couple of exceptional brewers carrying the company. Our team has built real depth, with world-class brewers across the circuit. As far as I’m concerned, Flix Brewhouse is the Brewery Group of the Year, two years running.”

Setting a New Standard for Brewery Groups Nationwide

One of the company’s biggest wins came from Nebulas, which captured gold in the Hazy Pale Ale category. As one of Flix Brewhouse’s four core beers available year-round at every location, the award demonstrates that the company’s flagship lineup is just as competitive nationally as its small-batch, location-exclusive brews.

Flix Brewhouse is the world’s only first-run cinema brewery, combining the best of two worlds—award-winning craft beer brewed on-site and a full-service cinema experience. With locations across Texas, New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Oklahoma, Flix operates as a collection of unique, local breweries while maintaining a commitment to consistency and quality.

“We’re incredibly proud of what our brewing teams have accomplished. Earning 17 medals at one of the world’s most respected brewing competitions speaks to the passion, craftsmanship, and dedication our brewers bring to every pint. At Flix Brewhouse, we believe great beer should be part of an excellent movie experience. While other dine-in theaters may serve beer, only Flix offers guests the opportunity to enjoy internationally recognized, award-winning craft beer brewed just steps away from where they’re watching the film. That’s an experience that is uniquely Flix Brewhouse,” said Josh Miller, National Brewery Operations Manager.

About Flix Brewhouse

Since making its debut in San Antonio in 2020, Flix Brewhouse has remained the world’s only first-run cinema brewery. Flix combines the latest Hollywood productions, award-winning, house-made craft beer, and delicious food – all served to guests in their luxury dining recliners. The genesis of the Flix concept stems directly from consumer demand for a better, more value-oriented way to watch a movie. Designed from the inside out to deliver a premium viewing and dining experience at an affordable price, Flix Brewhouse addresses the primary concern of moviegoers everywhere – the rising cost of admissions and concessions and the typically poor value realized at the conventional multiplex. The company has 15 successful operating locations in six states. http://flixbrewhouse.com
