DUSTBORN NEW single Předzvěst out now!

DUSTBORN is a Czech band, originally playing symphonic death metal, thematically influenced by post-apocalyptic and hard sci-fi stories. The band emerged from the ashes of the band Desire for Sorrow, with founding members Jon, Johny and Vlajda (ex. DfS), Dan (Arthemion), Aaron and Venca (ex. Of the Woods, Pyromann).

In 2018, DUSTBORN recorded its first EP in the SONIDOS studio in Brno, entitled MMXVIII. The EP saw initial release only as digital download in form of individual singles, but in 2019 it was also released as a physical CD under the Narcoleptica Productions label. The CD version includes an instrumental bonus track in addition to the original digital release. MMXVIII also features two music videos for the singles Mind Astray and Depths, produced by Marek Frodys Pytlik (Postcards from Arkham).

Just before the recording of the debut album Dethroned, guitarist Aaron and vocalist Venca left the band, which greatly complicated the recording process. Guitar recording was largely taken over by the talented guitarist Marek Ciml and the position behind the microphone was taken over by Johny, who has remained behind the microphone permanently ever since. The album Dethroned, released in 2019 under the czech label Metalgate, has garnered positive reactions from fans and critics alike. The album also appeared in the Ceny Britva nominations in the Album of the Year category, for example.

Shortly after the release, Tom (ex. Marked As An Enemy) came on as a guitarist. The band, oxygenated with new blood, released the third official music video for the opening single River Stained Red, directed by Mejla Basel (Mejla Prod. – Machine Head, Krabathor, Hypnos)

With new material and a new show, the band hit the road to support Dethroned. They went on to play several successful shows at clubs and festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, followed by a lull caused by the global pandemic.

At the end of 2022, DUSTBORN reappeared with two singles, The Sun God and Hodina, recorded live at Ambit 1084 studio in Český Krumlov. Both singles suggested a certain retreat from symphonic death metal, yet retained the band’s distinct personality.

In 2023, the band returns to the concert stage while preparing new material for a second full-length album, much of which was written during the pandemic. Given that our previous collaboration with the Ambit1084 studio had been fruitful, the second LP has been produced there as well. The new material moves a bit more into the black metal waters and nods in the direction of older Norwegian black metal records. Nonetheless, both the sound and the music of the album had been approached in a less orthodox manner, with frequent entries from other metal sub-genres. Album comes out on October 10th, 2024 digitally on all main streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, …) and a month later on a physical CD as well.
