Drum & Bass Duo The Prototypes Single ‘Reason’ Added To BBC Radio 1 Playlist

The Prototypes single ‘Reason’ with dance-feature hot-property LOWES has been added to BBC Radio 1 Playlist effectively from Friday 16 April – Stream ‘Reason’ Here. This week also sees the release of The Prototypes anthemic remix of James Vincent McMorrow and Rudimental drum and bass-inflected pop track  ‘Be Somebody’ Stream it here – the duo is planning two UK summer boat parties in July and a Vegas show in May.
Taken from their anthemic Drum & Bass crossover second album, ‘Ten Thousand Feet & Rising’ released by Kartel Music Group, the self-released independent summer anthem ‘Reason feat. LOWES’ is fast becoming an organic crossover hit – Stream ‘Ten Thousand Feet & Rising’ here. The album has had 110 plays across BBC Radio 1, BBC Dance and Radio 1Xtra, with support from Annie Mac, Greg James (TOTW), Matt & Mollie, Arielle Free, Dance Anthems and Rene LaVice. The single made it into the Shazam UK Top 50 chart.
Normally found tearing up festivals and venues across the world, while clubs have been closed, over the past year the pair have kept busy with a series of special livestream broadcasts, ‘Legacy’ to raise funds for MIND on World Mental Health Day in association with British Airways i360. Recorded live from the British Airways i360 tower in their hometown of Brighton, ‘Legacy’ saw the drum & bass duo stream a 90 minute live DJ set featuring all of their own material, VIPs, and exclusives from their 10 year career via their Facebook page. While in April 2020, The Prototypes performed a 24 hour Drum & Bass & Jungle DJ set in partnership with D&BTV and raised £14K for the NHS through ‘NHS Charities Together’.
‘Ten Thousand Feet & Rising’ previous singles, the electro-influenced ‘Paradise’ feat. Elle Exxe, has seen the support from the likes of Your EDM and Data Transmission,‘Enter The Warrior’ feat. B3ndu, ‘Oxygen’ feat. Kudu Blue, was premiereed by Danny Howard on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show before Annie named it her ‘Hottest Record’, while Mixmag called an “anthemic monster” in their review of the single and 90s Hardcore throwback cut ‘Shadows’ featuring Lily McKenzie – the band’s new album is the sound of an intense studio lockdown, entirely written and composed by The Prototypes and spread over eleven tracks, it features some of UK’s most distinctive vocalists and MCs, including the previously mentioned Lily MacKenzie, Kudu Blue’s Clementine Douglas, Fabric Live resident 2Shy MC, rising pop star Elle Exxe.
The Prototypes are Nick White and Chris Garvey, their potent, hard-hitting production signature and broadsword body of work has been released on seminal labels such as UKF, Viper Recordings, Shogun Audio, Ram Records, Technique Recordings and Formation. Early singles include ‘Pale Blue Dot’ which held the #1 spot on the Beatport dnb chart for over a month, went on to become Beatport‘s second top selling dnb track, whilst  their 2015 single ‘Pop It Off’ was named “one of the most unanimously unifying cuts in D&B of the year” by UKF Music. Their remixes include acts ranging from Ed Sheeran to Avicii to Friction. Their debut album ‘City Of Gold’, released in 2015 and reaching No. 22 on the UK Dance Chart on week of release, elevated the group to headline status with live performances including legendary festival Tomorrowland.
