Deathbound Xbox Series S Review

Deathbound Xbox Series S Review

Deathbound is a one-of-a-kind party-based soulslike set in a callous world where Faith and Science clash. The forbidden city of Akratya is an unforgiving land that cannot be conquered alone. Bind with fallen warriors found throughout your crusade and dynamically transform between characters seamlessly in mid-combat with the unique 4-hero party system. The fallen are individual characters with their own unique skill sets, combat styles, and rich history. By absorbing their essence, you inherit the fiber of their very being. Conflicts and synergies between characters greatly impact gameplay, so relationships must be balanced. Strong synergies may offer combat buffs that can spell disaster for the ruthless boss awaiting your steel and magic.

We were able to get a digital copy of Deathbound to review on our Xbox Series S console.  The game was a bit hefty so I let it download before I jumped into the game. Once done, I started up the game and learned more of what was going on through the cinematic scenes. Once it was over, you are able to use the character Therone and walk around the facility. Below, I have some gameplay of what I had seen when I was playing. After a while, I met my demise from a monster that scared the tar out of me. Then, I learned more about Therone as I followed my way through a hellish nightmare to leave that place and come back into my body. I’m not going to spoil much, but your in for a ride. After a few hours, there is more to learn about Therone’s character and more when your playing Deathbound. I’m so glad there are healing potions to make sure my character stays strong as there are some monsters that will make you gleam. I did hoped for more music in the game, but its all good though.

I dig it!

Our Thoughts

Pro:

  • Healing
    • So glad I had this readily available and at times, finding them throughout the game. I like to run into fights and just got at it and I do take a lot of damage. Having those healing potions there for you makes it much better throughout the game when your facing that foe.
  • Story
    • I enjoyed the sci fi aspect where these knights are trying to stop this community from using technology to create something that shouldn’t be there. Then learning more about the character Therone and his life after you perish is something quite interesting. I didn’t realize how narrative driven Deathbound is with story and lore. I enjoyed that!

Con:

  • No Music
    • I do enjoy a killer soundtrack here and there for games and felt this would have been good for Deathbound. I felt it would have heightened certain areas of combat against monsters that would scare the tar out of me when playing.

Rating: 9 out of 10
