Surfer© -Teen Confronts Fear has never released on DVD or digitally, SURFER is expressly a movie intended for the theatrical experience. We believe in the magic of the big screen.
Surfer remains only in theaters through 2021 forever committed to the big screen, no matter the odds. In these uncertain times, fear is a common enemy, and Douglas Burke’s modern-day cult classic SURFER©: TEEN CONFRONTS FEAR is preparing to ride the theatrical wave once again as soon as theaters open back up.
What’s new? Burke has converted the film in a brand-new black and white version onto 35mm film to play exclusively in theaters who have 35mm capable projectors. Meanwhile, the film will continue to play in the digital format around the world. As of this time, the film is not available on any other home video platform.
WATCH THE TRAILER and prepare to be AMAZED.
“SURFER is a self-funded indie filled passionate performances and bizarre dream logic. Describing SURFER doesn’t do the movie justice; it’s a film that needs to be seen to be understood.”
Surfing since as young as he can remember, at the age of 13, Sage (played by Sage Burke) is crippled by fear after suffering a wipeout on a huge wave. The wave slammed him to the bottom and held him pinned there without air until he nearly died. With his whole life still ahead of him yet now paralyzed by fear, Sage no longer surfs the waves. But unable to ignore the mystical and powerful pull of the ocean, he fishes in the surf, and finds more than he bargained for. This is the story of a teenager who confronts fear . . .
SURFER©: TEEN CONFRONTS FEAR is the passion project from writer / director / composer / actor Douglas Burke, whose intensely passionate and spiritual opus has been captivating midnight movie audiences since its theatrical release earlier this year. Critics are wildly divided over Burke’s vision: some have eviscerated it, while others have been charmed by what Burke is going for. What is certain is that the film is provoking a fascinating response, and the movie’s life as a cult film has only just begun.
“SURFER is a fine film about surfing and receiving poetic life advice from the ghost of a semi-comatose covert assassin who has been temporarily resurrected as squid meat. Ultimately, it is a film that is worth your time and attention.”
“At last a movie that teaches how to bring the active spirit of God into the body… Would recommend to non believer and believer alike. This is GOLD!”
