Comic Conroe 2022

By Todd Hoefler

This past weekend I went up to Conroe, TX to the Lonestar Convention Center for a convention called Comic Conroe. I had a great time while I was there everyone that ran the convention were great, the guests were amazing! They had Adassa who voiced Dolores from Disney’s Encanto, and voice actors from different Animes the Ocean Dubs of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, to voices of many different anime series as well. Here is my review.

Comic Conroe 2022 was an amazing experience it was a small intimate Convention with no one out front instructing guests on how to line up for their favorite guests to talk to. The guests were so great with everyone, and took their time to interact more with everyone that approached them. Adassa was great with all the Encanto guests especially with the little kids that came dressed as their favorite characters from the movie, and my interaction with her during my interview with her was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend going to see her when she’s at a convention near you. They had anime voice actors there from the Ocean Dub of Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Z for the Canadian, and European Markets (one of them hopped over to FUNimation when they took over the dubbing), My Hero Academia, Akame ga Kill, and many more. I had the opportunity to walk and talk to Saffron Hernandez the voice of Kid Goku in Dragon Ball, and Kid Gohan in Dragon Ball Z. She was so great to talk to, and so sweet. Also getting to interview Melanie Kohn the legendary voice of Lucy Van Pelt from the Peanuts. My thanks goes out to everyone I was able to interview while I was there, and had a blast during those interviews!

The pros of the convention was pretty much everything you could ask for. The guests were great, the people that ran this convention did a fantastic job, and the panels were really great as well! They also had some amazing vendors, and artists there as well. They allowed everyone to interact with the guests especially the Adassa panels she made them super intimate after her initial conversation with the audience. She grabbed the second microphone, and walked out into the audience to allow them to ask questions. She also had a sing along with them as well.

The only con of the Convention was about the after party there was no communication that the venue changed. Other than that, as I said the whole convention was super fun, and absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to go back to Comic Conroe for 2023.

That was my review of Comic Conroe 2022. I want to thank all the amazing guests that took their time to allow me to interview them, the staff, and the new friends I made. I can’t wait to see who they get to come next year!
