Break Out Horror-Pop Artist Revenge Wife Releases New Lo-fi Sad Girl Anthem “Home” Today

Earlier this year, HOLYCHILD co-founder Elizabeth Nistico launched her solo career with the break out horror pop art project called Revenge Wife. Now she brings it all “Home” with the third single from her debut EP, ‘Background Songs For Your Boring Life: Part I.’

Musically “Home” is Phil Collins meets 10cc “I’m Not in Love” plus Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” As with all the songs on the EP, she’s been referencing ELO a lot too.  It’s futuristic ‘80s” sad girl music. Never one to be pigeonholed, in “Home” Revenge Wife drops a dash of retro with a nod to the 70s, 80s and 90s.

While Chloe Moriondo’s ‘I Eat Boys’ is inspired by “Jennifer’s Body”, Revenge Wife’s brand of horror pop is inspired by Nistico’s very own concept of fear. In her songs she juxtaposes fear with love to portray what she’s actually feeling.
The single is about feeling at home with the person you love. But when that person is away, there’s a tinge of self-uncertainty and that’s the feeling that Revenge Wife is always trying to shed as similarly explored in her debut single “Earthquake.”

‘Home’ is my NY/LA long distance song,” Nistico says. “The three hour time difference makes its way in all the lyrics, ‘I’m still on coffee while you’re painting the town,’ ‘You’re in autumn I’m in summer..’ I wrote it with hyperpop rising duo Magdelena Bay who also produced, while my boyfriend was away shooting a show in New York and it was hard for me at the time!
Inspired by dreams, mystical experiences, and a lot of self-reflection, the songs on Background Songs For Your Boring Life: Part I provide a vehicle for Nistico to open up about the experiences that have shaped her life. The EP is accompanied by a series of horror-themed videos directed by Nistico herself (she’s actually a successful music video director in her side life). The surreal nightmare of a music video for “Home” will be out on May 13.
