BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston Uprising announced today the signing of Dutch tank player Thomas “brussen” Brussen, a free agent who most recently played for Team Netherlands in the 2019 Overwatch World Cup. brussen’s signing is currently pending league approval.

brussen, 19, recently helped Team Netherlands reach the top 6 in the 2019 Overwatch World Cup. He also represented the Netherlands in the 2018 World Cup.

Outside of the World Cup, brussen’s Overwatch Contenders experience dates back to spring 2018 as a member of One.PoinT. That team placed third in Trials for Overwatch Contenders 2018 Season 2 in Europe and proceeded to reach the quarterfinals in the region’s Contenders 2018 Season 2. He later played in Contenders 2018 Season 3 with Bazooka Puppiez, Open Division 2019 Season 2 with Freefall and Contenders 2019 Season 2 Trials with Young and Beautiful. Most recently, he competed in Contenders 2019 Season 2, starting the season with Young and Beautiful before moving to Angry Titans. He helped the team rebound from a 1-2 start to reach the quarterfinals. Following the season, he and the rest of the Angry Titans roster were released to explore other offers.

As a flex tank, brussen has played much of his competitive career as D.Va, though he plays occasionally as Roadhog and has become a proficient Sigma player since the hero released this year.

“brussen had a standout performance in the recent World Cup,” said Chris “HuK” Loranger, President of Gaming for the Uprising. “We think he will synergize well with the rest of his teammates, and we’re glad to welcome him here to Boston.”

The Uprising look ahead to the 2020 OWL season, as they will return to Boston and host two homestand weekends on April 25-26 and June 27-28.
