Austin Psych Fest Goes Smoothly Despite Storms Mother’s Day Weekend

Brought to you by Levitation and The Reverberation Appreciation Society record label, The Flaming Lips, Austin legends The Black Angels, and Thee Sacred Souls headlined Austin Psych Fest this past Mother’s Day weekend, May 8-10, 2026.
Late shows officially kicked off on Thursday in downtown Austin, featuring local bands like The Well as well as other scene favorites like Frankie and the Witch Fingers. The official first day of the festival on Friday went off without a hitch; brief but intense rain and storms delayed doors on Saturday and pushed forward the curfew on Sunday, but Far Out Lounge was still full of Austinites and out-of-towners alike, ready to bring the energy.

Austin locals like Almost Heaven, Grocery Bag, Annabelle Chairlegs and Adrian Quesada kicked off each day, bringing their own flair of psych, garage, goth, and rock n roll to south Austin.

The venue was incredibly packed throughout the day, and for all 3 headliners. Fans from all over Texas were ecstatic, despite the rains.

“I love Psych Fest. There’s a great community here in Austin for this kind of stuff. I’m happy to bring my kids to stuff like this and introduce them to some great rock and roll,” said San Antonian Lacy Hernandez.

Stay tuned as Levitation will soon be making an announcement for the fall version of the festival, simply called Levitation Fest, which takes places across venues in downtown Austin, most famously on Red River.
