Atari Goes Groovy Again with Gravitar: Recharged — Now Available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Consoles

Soar Through Galaxies to Find Your Way Home in the Latest Hypnotic Entry in Atari’s Ambitious Retro-Reimagined Series

New York, NY – Atari® — one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers — recently released the cosmic reimagining of an 80s hidden gem, Gravitar: Recharged. The latest addition to Atari’s successful Recharged series, Gravitar: Recharged revitalizes the original Gravitar with a shift from classic vector graphics to a more watercolor, painterly style as well as the implementation of more intricate gameplay and modernized gameplay features, like co-op and in-game power-ups, boosts, and more.

Available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Atari VCS, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Gravitar: Recharged brings players to the far reaches of space. Each galaxy has its own unique missions, with each challenge featuring varying levels of gravity, making gameplay as equally captivating as it is challenging. With visuals complemented by award-winning composer Megan McDuffee’s atmospheric score, Gravitar: Recharged gives players a sense of awe, perfectly merging moments of tranquility and suspense, just like its early ’80s predecessor.

Gravitar: Recharged is a modern-day remake of a 1982 hidden treasure. Capturing the celestial fascination of deep space, Gravitar: Recharged captures the “rotate, thrust, and fire” action of Asteroids and Space Duel and melds it with the mind-bending gravity physics of Lunar Lander. Remembered fondly as a challenging arcade game, the original Gravitar captivated the interest of arcade aficionados but failed to become a commercial hit upon its initial release. Now, Atari has collaborated with developers Sneakybox and Adamvision Studios to breathe new life into the cult classic, exposing it to a new generation of players.

Gravitar: Recharged Key Features:
  • Far from Home: Travel across the galaxy in arcade mode, visiting planets to progress through ever-more-challenging solar systems in a quest to get home.
  • Explore, Triumph, Repeat: Take on 24 distinct missions, aiming to climb global leaderboards and assert yourself as the ultimate space adventurer.
  • Powerful Power-Ups: Utilizing the tech at your disposal, make use of your tractor beam to grab power-ups including homing missiles and electrifying EMP disruptors.
  • Not so Lonely Anymore: No longer doomed to wander the universe alone, play with a partner in each game mode. Connect to your player two via a tether and work together to accomplish each goal and make your way home.
Gravitar: Recharged and the entirety of the Recharged series is made in collaboration with developers Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox. Award-winning artist and composer Megan McDuffee created the dreamy, spacey original soundtrack.
