Art Morera Unveils “I Was Here Too” – A Profound Exploration of Mortality, Simulation, and Life’s Journey

Art Morera, the Miami-raised, New York-based rapper, storyteller, and poet, has officially released his highly anticipated album, I Was Here Too. As a sequel to his 2020 album I Was Here, this new project deepens the introspection and thematic richness that have become synonymous with Morera’s music.

I Was Here Too delves into themes that intertwine simulation theory, Christianity, and reincarnation, exploring how these concepts may be connected. Drawing from personal experiences and relationships, the album balances intellectual exploration with heartfelt reflections, offering a listening journey filled with hope, remorse, faith, and wonder.

“The songs felt like they belonged in the same vein as I Was Here but further along,” says Morera. “My perception of life, death, mortality—even the concept of simulation theory tied to video games—has evolved. The introduction of seemingly sentient artificial intelligence also influenced the subject matter.”

Art Morera’s music captures the essence of human experience. He describes his work as the kind of art that prompts reflection and gratitude, saying, “The rhymes are fun to rap along to, and on long drives, they may bring a tear or two from being grateful to be alive.”

This album comes at a pivotal moment in Morera’s career. Following over a decade of independent releases and collaborations with Hip-Hop legends like Homeboy Sandman and Kurious, he recently embarked on his first tour—Homeboy Sandman’s Wild Wild Rich Tour. The tour provided the perfect backdrop to the album’s release, allowing fans to hear I Was Here Too live alongside selections from his celebrated catalog, including Vanessa.

“The timing of my first tour after 20 years of rapping feels like a gift from God,” Morera reflects. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this milestone while connecting with fans and showcasing new work.”

Morera’s creative journey has been as diverse as his music. Born to Cuban parents in Miami and steeped in the city’s vibrant cultural tapestry, he honed his lyrical craft amid a backdrop of rap, rock, and classic oldies. His passion for exploration took him from Miami to Humboldt, California, and eventually to New York City, the epicenter of Hip-Hop culture. Over the past year and a half, Morera recorded five projects, including I Was Here Too, while building roots in the Big Apple.

Morera credits much of his progress to the support of close collaborators and friends. “I want to thank my dear friend Shades B for giving me a place to stay in New Jersey, enabling me to grow and network in NYC,” he says.

I Was Here Too is more than an album—it’s a statement of growth, resilience, and the beauty of life’s journey.
