ALTERNATIVE DANES 802 GOES DISCO!

ALTERNATIVE DANES 802 GOES DISCO!

This summer, they conquered the biggest Scandinavian festivals – including Copenhell and Roskilde Festival – with a musical explosion that created mosh pits of headbangers and pop lovers. 802 has become notoriously known for their fuzzy and unashamedly catchy wall of sound, and as the grand finale of 2024, the Danish three-piece let go of yet another hybrid in the shape of ‘Princess’.

The disco, heavy metal-infused single melds 80s synths with showers of heavy distortion and ghostly hooks. ‘Princess’ is the 4th single by Andreas Asingh (vocals, keys & drums), Emil Sørensen (guitar) and Kristian Holbæk (bass), who are nominated as New Artist of the Year and New Live Artist of the Year at the Danish metal awards, Den Hårde Tone.

Beyond the Danish borders, 802 has become renowned for their both aesthetic and kitsch short films. ‘A Heavy Metal Bedtime Story’ received a UK Music Video Awards nomination in 2023, while ‘The Curse of the Velvet Vampire’ most recently won Best International Short at the international film festival, A Night of Horror.

This December, ‘Princess’ will be followed by the premiere of ‘1986 Forever’.

The new 802 short film is a dark and twisted postmodern comedy in which we meet the anti-heroes of an 80’s heavy metal band chasing the dream. Look out for some serious Kungfu fighting and a certain Danish metal drummer, anno 1986, who might just be the key for 802 to unlock the prestigious major label record deal.

‘1986 Forever’ is directed by Casper Balslev (ALT-J, MØ, Mew and more) and premieres on December 12th.
