In his new album, Alejandro Sanz ventures into unexpected ways expression, but also refines the creative model that has made him an icon of popular music worldwide. “Mares de Miel” is the best example of his capacity to transform his own standards starting from the essential parts of the song, a format that in expert hands does not understand limits or restrictions. In this new work by the Madrilenian – produced by Alfonso Pérez with Alejandro Sanz and Javier Limón; mixed by Peter Walsh– we find ten compositions dominated by his renewed attitude.

“Mares de Miel” advances unstoppably on the rails of a brilliant melody, propelled by a rhythm of flamenco that doesn’t need to enforce the southern accent. Sanz manages the powers of the score with intelligence. He doses the mystery of a suggestive lyric that reaches close to the heart, before exploding into one of those verses that stick since the very first time you hear it. But it doesn’t end there, then, it develops into a subtle harmonious theme with metallic arrangements that – without any outbursts of tone or excess- accompanies us on the way to the ethereal fade-out. This song ends by leaving us in the clouds, which is another milestone in Sanz’s repertoire, marked by so many of his fundamental compositions that his North American fans will get to enjoy live during the tour that will take him through the United States during the month of October.

A massive success, #LAGIRA 2021 continues tomorrow in Miami and will visit cities like Dallas, Houston, San Diego and Los Angeles, among others before coming to an end on October 19th in San Jose, California.
