Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernández’s “Hecho en México” US Tour wrapped on Sunday night with a sold-out concert at the Arizona Federal Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. The Live Nation promoted tour, Alejandro’s most successful US tour ever, comes on the heels of his hugely successful album of the same name which garnered him 4 number-one singles on US Latin radio charts. Alejandro became the first Latino artist to achieve number one albums in 4 consecutive decades—1990’s, 2000’s, 2010’s and 2020.

“This tour was really special for me,” said Alejandro. “The pandemic reminded us all of the healing power of live music. To be back on stage singing in unison with so many thousands of my fans, was deeply moving, especially at this sensitive time in our world.”

The Hecho En México tour featured 21 concerts, 20 of which were sold-out leaving fans anxious for his next US trek. Highlights included capacity shows in Las Vegas (2), Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles (2). The tour marked Alejandro’s first live performances with his son, Alex Fernández. These special moments on stage with his son, brought back memories of Alejandro’s own beginning, when as a young boy his father called him on stage to sing with him. History repeated itself nightly on the “Hecho en México” tour as father, son, and audience alike were moved to tears.

“Singing with my son, the way my father and I did in the early days of my own career, brought me to tears,” reflected Fernández. “The sense of familial love and tradition is so strong in Latino families. I hope this was as meaningful for the fans as it was for Alex and I.”

In addition to its critical and financial success, the tour also served as a fundraiser for Families Belong Together. Alejandro donated over $100,000.00 from the tour proceeds to assist immigrant families separated at the US / Mexico border. “We are profoundly grateful to Alejandro Fernandez for his generous donation to Families Belong Together … we continue the work so that no parent or child face the trauma of separation. This donation will support our ongoing efforts to fight for a future where all immigrant children and families are treated with dignity and compassion at the border and beyond. La lucha sigue.” -Paola Luisi, Director, Families Belong Together.

The “Hecho en México, tour continues on now to México with notable shows at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional, the Telmex Theater in Guadalajara, and the Pa’l Norte Festival in Monterrey, before moving on to Central and South America and Spain in 2022.

Throughout the pandemic with live touring shut down, Alejandro Fernández remained very active, looking for new and innovative ways to be close to his fans and lend his voice to important causes impacting our community. In the early days of the pandemic, Alejandro partnered with Univision TV’s Dr. Juan Rivera in sharing vital information about health and COVID-19 on television and social media platforms. Seeing the impact of the shutdown on the artist community, Fernández released a stirring rendition of Joan Sebastian’s classic “Eso y Más” as a fundraiser for out of work musicians, donating 100% of the proceeds to MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund in the United States and MúsicaMéxico COVID-19Al in Mexico.

In October 2020, the singer offered a historic live streaming event, América Unidos: Una Sola Voz (America Together in One Voice), a breathtaking concert viewed by over 150,000 fans in 19 different countries across the American continents. During the show Alejandro paused to remind his fans of the importance of voting in the upcoming elections. Following this performance he launched (along with a coalition of artists) the “Vota Por Nosotros” (Vote For Us) get-out-the-vote campaign, encouraging Latino voters to vote on behalf of our entire community in the November 3rd elections. In accepting his Latin GRAMMY, Alejandro dedicated the award to the victims of the recent hurricanes in southern Mexico donating MXN $1,000,000.00 to the Mexican Red Cross to aid with the relief efforts. Most recently Alejandro joined Mana’s Fher Olvera as the face of the “We Are Home” campaign calling for a fair and dignified immigration policy for the millions of Latino immigrants living in the US and again with Dr. Anthony Fauci in a call for the US Latino population to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
