QuarantinedCon 2020

QuarantinedCon 2020

I recently had the privilege to attend an incredibly unique and amazing convention…. But hold on, the twist on this con was the fact that it was a full 48-hour con experience but online. Yes, complete with panels, vendors, and more, before I go on let me break down what QuarantinedCon is.  This con was assembled to help the artists and small business owners that were not able to sustain their income due to the numerous cancellations of other conventions during this COVID-19 pandemic. What also makes this con awesome is the fact that a portion of the proceeds are going to charities to help benefit those who have been affected by the current pandemic. With that being said I’m glad to say that there was so much to do and see from artists such as Eddie Price (Topps, Marvel, The Walking Dead), Dave Alverez (DC, Disney, warner Bros.), Ty Schafrath (Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney) as well as many other great artists. A lot of the celebrities that attended were all from shows and movies that I enjoyed watching while growing up, such as Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th, Hatchet) Felisa Rose (Sleep Away Camp, The Perfect House) and my personal favorite John Kassir aka the Crypt Keeper, who I actually had the privilege to sit down in a community chatroom and interview him which was just breath taking. I also found it quite awesome to see that if you wanted any autographed merchandise from special guests that attended, they actually had a set up with the pictures, prices and who it was signed from available in a digital shop. It humbles me to see during this time of hardship and isolation that we are not alone and were all in this together. How awesome it is for small businesses and artists to join together and provide a sense of community during this trying time. I found this online convention to be very eye opening and I hope to see more come from this. I also want to say from the bottom of my heart to Dirk Strangly thank you for this, from someone who is a big geek and had a blast experiencing this first hand, I hope to see more and thank you for allowing me & Drop The Spotlight to attend this breathtaking experience. Stay safe and be well my friends.
